Here we are at the end of another year that has been full of u3a activity. This culminated in a wonderful December Monthly meeting that really showcased the many talents amongst our members. Everyone who I have spoken to has said what a good morning it was and how much they enjoyed it. Thanks go to everyone involved. It is wonderful that the word is spreading about our u3a and that our membership continues to grow. However, that does put extra demands on all those who help to run everything. We are delighted to welcome Michele Bennett and Frank Sheehan to the Committee, which is fantastic, but there is always plenty to do and room for more! We invite you to come and observe a Committee meeting to learn more about our organisation, which is, of course, entirely run by volunteers. Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month (though not in December this year!) at 10am. Do let me know if you would like to attend. I am also very grateful to those members, some of them very new, who have started Interest Groups recently. Your Group Leader should have shared the relevant Risk assessment with you. Whilst accepting that these are mostly common sense we have to have them in place in case anything does go wrong. Also we would ask all of you to make a sensible assessment of your own health and mobility before taking part in an activity. There is a ‘Personal Risk assessment’ template on our website that you may find helpful. We would also ask you to let your Group Leader know if you have any health issue that could possibly be a problem at a meeting or outing. So as we go forward into 2025, I send you Seasons greetings and the hope of a happy, healthy and peaceful new year. At least we know that we will be able to continue filling our lives with laughter, learning and friendship in Southwell u3a.
