Page updated 11-3-2023-RL The group started in February 2017: UPDATE March 2023: The group has been so successful that it has now "gone as far as it can", and is planning to close. The Group Leader is open to requests to start a new group "Ancient Greek for Beginners".
This is how the February 2017 Group was described:
We are a group which meets every other Monday by Zoom, most of whom had no previous knowledge of the Ancient Greek language, who have come together to share an interest in the language (which has a great deal in common with Modern Greek), Ancient Greek history, literature and culture. Currently we are following a course of Greek language for beginners and exploring some aspects of Greek history and literature. We supplement the course with the reading of simple passages in Greek and we explore some aspects of Greek History and Literature. We are following the GCSE Greek Language Course. We were very much pre-GCSE standard.
If anyone is interested but unsure about the suitability of the group please do contact the Group Leader
