Updated 05-09-2024-RL HOW TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP Southwell u3a Members just need to make a renewal payment (and let us know). 1st March is our fixed renewal date.
Annual subscription for a Full Member is £20 per person Annual subscription for an Associate Member is £16 per person (i.e. if you are a full member of another u3a)
You can make a renewal payment by the following means:-
Alternatively you may renew via Standing Order, Cash or Cheque or Credit/Debit Card
1. Standing Order: Complete a SO form for next year and send it to your bank. This needs to be completed, in advance, by early January to be sure it is processed in time for the 1 March renewal date.
Payee: Southwell U3A (General Account) Bank: NatWest Sort code: 60 20 15 Account number: 36049697 Reference: Your Surname & Membership Number Notify (email) the Treasurer of payment at [email protected] with the same reference details and in the subject line the words “U3A renewal online”.
2. Cash or Cheque: Either pay at the Monthly Meeting admin table - or - 2) post to our Treasurer (phone for current address, using details on the back page of the members' version of "Newsline") Cheques payable to 'Southwell U3A' with your Membership No. on the back.
3. Debit / Credit Card: Pay by card at the Monthly Meeting.
Gift Aid: UK Taxpayers can ‘Gift Aid’ their subscription as it costs nothing but enables the u3a to recover tax (£5). Payment must come from an account or joint account in your name. You do NOT need to sign a new gift aid declaration each year.
Membership Cards These are printed once a year and can be collected at the Monthly Meeting from March on. On request (email to [email protected]), the Membership Secretary can send a digital copy for you to print out for your lanyard pocket.
What does your membership give you? 1.Subscriptions go a long way! They include the cost of public liability insurance cover for activities undertaken by our members, room hire for SU3A Monthly Meetings & related speakers fees, some functions and five issues each year of the national U3A magazine ‘Third Age Matters’, which is published by the Third Age Trust and posted directly to members’ homes. It also allows you access to our many dozens of local interest groups*and the SU3A 'Newsline' - our monthly email newsletter - and support/advice from our vibrant and busy committee members. *Many interest groups are "free", though some charge a modest fee to cover their expenses.
2. From 2022 membership moved to a fixed annual renewal date. You may still join any Group as soon as you apply and become a member. You will then receive a renewal reminder in the weeks leading up to March each year.
3. On payment you are given a membership card. Please carry this with you as you may be asked to show it as proof of membership when you attend a Group. Your name, address, telephone number, email and emergency contact number are recorded in the membership database, which is used only by Southwell U3A.
4. Members are encouraged to wear a name badge at meetings as this helps everyone to get to know one another more easily.
