Updated 05-09-2024-RP Group Risk Assessment - August 2024 The Southwell u3a concert trips scheme runs regular coaches from Southwell to the Nottingham Classics concert programme at the Royal Concert Hall in central Nottingham. Tickets are discounted significantly because we comprise a group and there is then a small charge added into the integrated ticket/coach price to cover the cost of coach hire. The organiser, Roger Bennett, pre-reserves blocks of seats in the concert hall each season for all concerts to cover all popular areas and prices and to reserve special seats for “regular” concertgoers. The scheme has been running since the start of the 2013 – 2014 season and is popular with virtually every concert now having a coach.
The coach normally leaves the Southwell Leisure Centre car park at 6:10pm and picks up further passengers in Thurgarton, Lowdham & Burton Joyce before arriving at the front of the Royal Centre at around 7:00pm in plenty of time for a 7:30pm concert programme. You are picked up at the end of the concert within a few hundred yards of the main entrance.
Seating is divided into three bands: Band A: Most of the front of Tier 1 from rows C to N. Band B: Centre front block of Stalls & the rear of Tier1 from rows O onwards. Band C: Sides and rear of Stalls, front of Tier 2 and a few seats at the far side of Tier 1.
The full seat map, with the u3a reserved seats marked on it can be viewed by clicking on'seats'.
The prices for the 2024 - 2025 season are: Band A £41, Band B £37 and Band C £35. One concert is a special event, which is priced separately at: Band A £46, Band B £42 and Band C £39. (This is on Saturday 19 October 2024.) There are other lower priced seats available but as no-one ever booked these they are not included in the pre-reserved blocks.

Tickets can be purchased at the monthly meetings or via the post, a separate booking form must be completed for each concert and can be downloaded by clicking on 'booking' .
Approximately 4 to 6 weeks before each concert the e-mail list is contacted to open bookings and details also appear in Newsline. Cheques need to be made payable to Southwell u3a. Joining Instructions are usually sent out by e-mail to passengers a few days prior to the concert. Unfortunately if there is a late cancellation after tickets have been purchased and the coach ordered there can be no refunds unless your ticket/place can be resold.
