42 members attended the latest workshop "Health in the 3rd Age" delivered by nutritionist Gill Key where we learnt about why we age and how to age well. There were a couple of games which were tougher than they seemed at first glance, but Gill gave us plenty of tips on exercise, the importance of social interaction and of course nutrition. One of the most difficult aspects of living on one’s own can be buying small quantities of vegetables however the local shops do sell individual pieces and for those with limited strength in hands and wrists (or just for convenience) there are small packs of mixed vegetables available both fresh and frozen.
The next workshop will be in May and will follow on the theme of healthy living looking at exercise, particularly gentle exercise.
Gill thanks everyone for coming and will be in touch with all those who entered her challenge to eat 30 types of vegetables in a week! (30 March 2017)
Jane Zdanowski writes - "The next memory course is starting in April, I still have a few names left on a waiting list and am planning to run another course in June or July this year. The memory course is an interesting look at how memory works and provides opportunities for looking at how to improve it. If you are interested in this course please let me know since there will be some places available for the summer.
There are only 12 places on each course, following an introductory session to explain the course and agree a day the remaining sessions will run over 4 consecutive weeks preferably and last between 1.5 - 2 hours.
