Wentworth Woodhouse
The next trip being organised for you is to Wentworth Woodhouse, Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The date is Thursday 19th June. There has been a tremendous response to our trip to Wentworth Woodhouse on Thursday, 19th June cost £33. There are just five seats still available on the coach which can be purchased through: Susan Armstrong - Phone 07834 828189 email: [email protected]. Any remaining seats will be sold at the May monthly meeting.
This house has a long history, it was featured in the book Black Diamond and boasts the longest façade of any country house in Europe. The rooms are empty, but there are seats available as you walk around for a quick rest. There is no lift, only stairs to the upper floor, where there are some magnificent rooms to appreciate. The staircase is a sweeping staircase which can be climbed at your own pace. There is the option after the house visit to explore the RHS partnered Wentworth Woodhouse gardens, if you are a RHS member they are free, non members £3. Please note Wentworth Woodhouse is a card only establishment: They do not take cash. Afternoon Tea Rolleston We are organising a farm visit to Rolleston again with a very good Afternoon Tea and demonstration. Thursday 10th July cost £20. Tickets will be available at the May monthly meeting.
In the planning stage ... A visit to The Houses of Parliament in September and Floral Media lunch and flower demonstration in December.
Future Ideas Not yet booked but being considered for 2025, include visits to: Lincoln Bomber Command Museum and Dambusters Inn British Car Museum Denby Factory Highgrove (King Charles’ Garden) Kilworth Theatre (Musical). Other ideas Rolleston Afternoon Tea, and York Christmas Market
