We are a group of individuals who enjoy reading a wide range of material then having the opportunity to talk about and discuss what we have read. We do this in a very democratic way, taking turns to lead the group. Note that if you want to "study literature", Southwell u3a also has a "Literature Group". The group meets at 2.00 pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month, but break for summer and Christmas so do not meet in August or December.
Update: We used to meet in members' homes, but with a steady growth in numbers during 2023 we have moved and now meet at Burgage Court Community Centre. This move has allowed us to expand our membership further, but we can still welcome more new members! If interested in joining us please contact Alison (details in "Members' Section" or see below). Lift sharing can be arranged, and we make time for refreshments and a chat as well as our book discussion. Members normally source their own copies to allow us maximum flexibility in our choice of texts. We negotiate our programme by group agreement, aiming to read from a different genre each month. We plan to vary the format by including some 'Members' Choice' meetings and 'Book v Film' sessions. We usually take turns to find out a little about the author and share this with the group before we discuss the book.
