This group meets once a month to discuss the month’s chosen book. Books are selected in advance by the group and copies are provided by the local library. The group has a varied reading range, from classics and modern, to autobiographies.
The group meets in Southwell on the 4th Wednesday in the month between 10.30 - 12 am. Average attendance is between 12 and 15 at each meeting.
Book Group 2:
We are a group of individuals who enjoy reading a wide range of material then having the opportunity to talk about and discuss what we have read. We do this in a very democratic way, taking turns to lead the group.
The group meets at 2.00 pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month at members’ homes in Southwell, Farnsfield or Fiskerton. Lift sharing can be arranged. There is time for refreshments and a chat as well as our book discussion, and new members are always welcome
The programme for 2020 can be seen by clicking here. Members normally source their own copies to allow us maximum flexibility in our choice of texts. We negotiate our programme by group agreement, aiming to read from a different genre each month. We plan to vary the format by including some 'Members' Choice' meetings and 'Book v Film' sessions. We usually take turns to find out a little about the author and share this with the group before we discuss the book.
Book Group 2 programme for 2021 is as follows:
23rd February Any book by John Grisham
23rd March I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai
27th April All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
25th May. The Secret River by Kate Grenville
22nd June Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell
27th July The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
