We normally meet at 10.30am on the first Friday of each month at Southwell Library. At each meeting there is an illustrated talk and opportunities for discussion. Members are also provided with primary source materials connected to the topics being studied.
Members do not need any specific previous historical knowledge and whether they spend time working out what can be deduced from the primary sources or on follow-up reading is entirely optional.
During 2022 and 2023 we studied Britain c. 55 B.C. to 1066. From January 2024 we will be studying “Power in Early Modern Europe c1515-c1725” – looking at some of the political and religious leaders of the period, and we are looking forward to this very different area of study.
As the group has proved popular, and we are up to full capacity for our meeting room, we now have a small waiting list, but please do contact our Group Leader if interested in joining us, and we will fit you in as soon as we can.
