Updated 31-03-2023-RL How Do They Do That (HDTDT) Group 1
There are two "How do they do that?" groups: Group 2 is still very active, and full with a waiting list. Click here to view. (opens in a news window). Group 1 was very active also, with 50+ members, thanks to Martin, its energetic and much-appreciated leader. Some of its activities are listed below. Sadly, Martin is no longer able to lead the group, so it is for now "on ice". We are leaving this group "on ice" in the hope that one super-hero, or (more realistically) a small number of volunteers will come forward to re-energise it: A small team of 2-3 to enthuse, plan and coordinate, plus agreement by members to work in pairs to each organise, book and run a trip once every 2 years would mean "many hands=light work", and a return the the enjoyment shared by all in this large group.
Looking Back: How do They do That? Group 1 Up to "Covid", the Group was very active and covered a wide range of topics including Thorntons Chocolate factory, Staythorpe Power Station, Freshgro Farmers’ Cooperative, Rolls Royce Heritage Centre, Abbott Boilermakers, Salford Media City, Wensleydale Cheese and Theakstons Brewery, Bombardier Train Factory, Hemsel Heritage Orchard, JCB, a Cine Camera Lens Laboratory, Newark Violin School, Lincoln Waste Incinerator, Savannah Rags, Linney Media Offices, Newark Heritage Barge, Branston Potato Processors, J Smedley Knitwear, Bletchley Park, Stokes Coffee Roasters, the Guide Dog Training Centre, and many other interesting sites.
